Festive Friday- Reindeer Spinner Card

Today is Festive Friday over at My Cricut Craft Room . Today I have another spinner card to share with you. I have to tell you that this little reindeer is one of my absolute favorite all time cuts. I have to make myself use other Christmassy cuts because my mind always jumps to him.

I used Create A Critter to cut this reindeer. I cut him at 2 inches. He is so fun rolling across the card. The sentiment says Flying by to say Merry Christmas! The background paper is an individual sheet by Paper Studio I saw and just had come up some way to use it.

Card Creating Tuesday- Pink Christmas tree

It's Card Creating Tuesday over at My Cricut Craft Room. I always get so inspired by all the cards on Tuesday. Today I want to share with you a pink and plum Christmas Card.

This card was made with the Don Juan cartridge. This was the first cartridge I ever had and I sometimes forget to pull it out and see what I can make. I cut the tree at 3 inches. The tree is a shift function on one of the letters. I cut the plum tree using the Under Pressure feature and the gold tree using Under Pressure Shadow. The sentiment shape was made using a punch I had. I love this paper but couldn't tell you where it comes from. I stole mine out of my mom's paper stash.

Festive Friday- Snowman Card

It's Festive Friday over at My Cricut Craft Room, one of my favorite days of the week. It is also my sister's birthday. Happy Birthday sister!!! Hope you are having a great day. Today I want to share with you one of the Christmas cards I am sending out this year. This card was so much fun to make.

I made this card using Hello Kitty Greetings. I love this little snowman. I cut him out at 4 inches. I used a snowflake stamp from to stamp the background. I also cut a small snowbank that I stamped and added using popup dots. I addes a little glitter to jazz it up.

Theme Day Thursday- Birthday Party

Today is theme day thursday over at My Cricut Craft Room. Today's theme is birthday party. I was so excited for this day because I have two birthday parties to throw in December. Unfortunately I broke my camera and have not been able get good pictures of my projects. I do have a picture of our invitation for our Hello Kitty birthday.

This is made with the Hello Kitty Greetings. The Hello Kitty head is cut at 1 1/2 inches. She rolls around to invite friends to our party. The background paper is paper studio. Hopefully it will build excitement for our fun party. We are using the same heads for cupcake toppers on toothpicks. Thanks for looking. November 100 Cartridge Blop Hop Day 2

Welcome to My Cricut Craftroom's monthly 100 cartridge Blog Hop.

You should have started at My Cricut Craft Room. If not please go here to start at the beginning. I would hate for you to miss anything. Today is acutally day 2 of the hop. I hope you had a great time hopping yesterday. Today I want to share a project made with three different cartridges: Create A Critter; Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More; and Everyday Paper Dolls. This a Mom & Me journal I made for my nine year old daughter. She loved it. I will have to apologize for the pictures. I broke my camera and had to use my husband's phone.

I covered a composition journal with two papers and added a coordinating ribbon over the seam. I cut the hippo from Create A Critter at 2 inches. Then I added wiggly eyes and attached him with dimensionals to make him pop out. My 9 year old loves hippos.

The tags were cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes, & More at 3 inches. I added ribbons to them before glueing them down. These were cut with the hole option on.

I cut the two heads from Everyday Paper Dolls at 2 inches. The mom hair is from the bedtime doll and the daughter hair was from the grad doll. I also added wiggly eyes to these for fun.

Card Creating Tuesday- Turtle spinner card

Today is card creating Tuesday over at My Cricut Craft Room. This is a popular day and some of the ladies I am on this design team make amazingly beautiful cards. Today I want to share with you one of my new obsessions- spinner cards. You may remember my Wiseman spinner card a few weeks ago. These are so fun to make and I think equally fun to receive. You are very likely to see a few more of these over the next few weeks. SO MUCH FUN!!

This card is a birthday card for my sister whose birthday is in a couple of weeks. Maybe she won't look at this post and if she does maybe she will pretend like she didn't see it. I actually made this while she was sitting across the table but hid it behind stuff. I am pretty sure she knows she is getting a spinner card but not what is spinning across.

This card was made with Create A Critter. I cut the turtle at 1 inch. My sister loves green and turtles so I thought this was appropiate. I love purples and pinks when mixed with green so that helped me choose papers. These papers were all out of my scrap drawer.

Would You Guess Wednesday- Ticket Card

It's would you guess Wednesday over at My Cricut Craft Room. This is the day we think outside the box. I recently ordered the Mickey Font Cartridge. I was pleasantly surprised to discover you could cut out tickets with letters and numbers. That inspired this simple card for my 15 year niece.

I cut the ticket using the endcaps and 1 adn 5 on the ticket feature at 2 1/4 inches. I tried to jazz it up with some dazzling diamond on some of the circles. Festive Friday- Wiseman Card

This past weekend my mom and sister and niece came for a girls weekend while my hubby and dad were at a RA ( boys missions) weekend event. We had so much fun it was like out own little crafting retreat with kids running around. We got alot done and got to spend some quality time together that we haven't had in a while. Today's project is one of the things I made this weekend.

Today over at My Cricut Craft Room is Festive Friday and you know how much I love Festive Friday! I have been wanting to try a spinner card and I finally did. I love them. They may be my new obsession.

This card was so much fun to make. I watched several online videos and tutorials to learn how to make that star spin. My mom happened to have the word window punch from Stampin Up which made punching my spinner hole so easy although I saw several tutorials without that punch.

I cut the wiseman and the camel from Paper Doll Dress Up and cuthem both at 2 1/4 inch. All the papers were scraps. I believe the gold was creative memories and the rest were most likely Paper Studio.

The star that spins was cut from Hannah Montana at 2 inches. I just wrote Wismen Still Seek Him with a marker.

Would you Guess Wednesday Lollipop holder

It is Would You Guess Wednesday over at My Cricut Craft Room. This is day where we jump out of the box and use the feature buttons or a cake cartridge for paper or just something you wouldn't think of. Today I want to share with you a lollipop holder I made for the two daughters of my friend who will be having a birthday party in a few weeks. I saw this idea somewhere online and just knew I had to try it.

This is made with a styrofoam disc from the dollar tree. I inserted a dowel rod into it and the inserted dumdum lollipops all the way around. Before adding anything I traced the disc to get the correct size circle of cardstock. The present is cut from Create A Critter using the accessory feature on the lion. I cut this at 3 1/2 inches then I stamped the words celebrate and party around the edge and embossed with a hot pink powder. So cute and I am coming up with many ways to use this idea. I am thinking gift for teachers. They can use them on their desk fro rewards.

Festive Friday - Christmas Wand

Every princess needs a wand and contribution for today's Festive Friday over at My Cricut Craft Room is the perfect Christmas accessory for any princess.

The tree for this wand was cut from the Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge at 3 inches. I cut one for each side of the wand. I added gold glitter dots to make ornaments and make the star shine. I took red and green tulle and made a little puff and glue it to one of the trees. Then I wrapped a dowel rod with ribbon and secured both ends with hot glue. I tied the wrapped dowel rod with two pieces of the tulle and added a little hot glue to secure. then I glued the other tree on top. Both my girls are already fussing over who it belongs to. Guess I am going to have to make another one.

October 100 Cartridge BlogHop- Day 2

Welcome to the second day of the October 100 cartridge blog hop hosted by Erica over at My Cricut Craft Room. Hopefully you enjoyed hopping through yesterday's list and have been inspired to hit the crafting table. I know I sure have. Today is round two and we have more inspiration for you. You should have from come from Connie over at Connie's Crafty Closet. If you didn't please jump back to Erica at My Cricut Craft Room to start from the beginning. I would hate for you to miss any of this crafty goodness.

Today I have projects from three cartridges to share with you. The first project is made from Hello Kitty Greetings and Hannah Montana. Hannah Montana is a great font cartridge to own.

My middle daughter will be turning six in December and has asked for a Hello Kitty party. ( You can be expecting several projects over the next couple of months with Hello Kitty) I made her a scrapbook page for people to sign at her party. Her name and the 6 are cut from Hannah Montana at 2 inches. The Hello Kitty head is cut from Hello Kitty Greeting at 2 inches.

This project is made from Mickey Font Cartridge. I just got this cartridge and was excited to use it. We have some family friends who love disney and also love Christmas. These are very dear people who have been a part of my life since birth. My girls consider them like family. I wanted to make a little Christmas present for them. I have been trying out these glitter ornaments made with the mop 'n' glo. Once I got this cartridge in the mail I knew I wanted to use it on one of these ornaments. The pink ornament is for their granddaughter. They have two other grandchildren but I still have to decide what ornaments to make for them.

I cut the Mickey heads using the Mickey tag function and shift. They are cut at 1 1/4 inches out of white contact paper.

Would You Guess Wednesday- Purse card

Today is Would You Guess Wednesday over at My Cricut Craft Room. This is day where we jump out of the box a little and see what we can make using the feature keys o ra cake cartridge on paper. Today I want to share a card with you.

This little purse is from the Create A Critter cartridge. You will find this purse on page 36 with the poodle. Use the accessory button. I cut it at 3 inches. I wish I had written with a better marker but it is what it is. I added a rhinestone where you would find some type of closure. I don't usually think of Create A Critter when making something for my teenage girls at church but this little purse is just great. Take a look at Create A Critter differently and just look at the accessory box as you flip through the book. It might open up a whole new world of possibilities for you.

Festive Friday- Joy Purse

Today is Festive Friday over at My Cricut Craft Room again. Today I want to share with you a little Joy Purse. I think I am going to use these to put bracelets in for my girls at church.

I cut this purse from Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More. I cut it at 5 1/2 inches and glued together. I added a ribbon to the slits in the top as a handle.

I cut the word JOY from Create a Critter at 1 inch. I cut the bottom layer in red. I cut the top layer in green then cut off the J and Y, added some green glitter and glued in on. Very simple but cute.

Festive Friday- Reindeer Bag Topper

It's my favorite day of the week over at My Cricut Craft room, Festive Friday. Today I want to share with you a bag topper I made for treat bags for gifts for people like PE teachers and librarians. This is made to go on top of cello bags with homemade goodies.

The reindeer is cut from create a critter at 2inches. The sentiment is stamped and embossedwith a green tinsel embossing powder. One down who knows how many more to go.

Card Creating Tuesday - Fall Birthday Card

Today over at My Cricut Craft Room it is card creating Tuesday. This is always a big day on our team and I am always so inspired by my teammates craftiness. Today I have made for you a fall birthday card. It is a very simple card but I think it is cute.

I cut this using Create a Critter.

The pinecone is cut at 3

The Thought Bubble is cut at 2

The Happy Birthday is cut at 1.

The leaf background paper is from my scraps stash. I think it is a single sheet from Hobby LObby.

Diaper Cake and Wreaths

This week we threw a shower for our wonderful college minister and his wife. They are expecting a sweet little girl next month whom we cannot wait to meet. Part of my job was to make a diaper cake and wreath. I just wanted to share a few pictures with you.

This month I decided to use four cartridges to make three very different projects for you.

This first project was made with the Summer in Paris Cartridge. This cartridge has a lot of very detailed cuts. The bigger cut you make the better the turn out in my opinion.

Summer in Paris- Card
Cut crown and crown base both at 3 inches
Made on a green 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inch card picked up at Target

This project was a metal water bottle decorated with vinyl and the Old West cartridge.
Old West- Water Bottle
Cut country girl at 3 inches
Cut horse at 1 inch
All cuts made from black vinyl. I picked this water bottle up at the Dollar General Store. This was a birthday present for my daughter's friend and was a big hit.

I made this hairbow holder for my daughter using the two Disney princess cartridges: Dreams Come True and Happily Ever After.

Cut Aerial, Cinderella, and Belle Silhouettes at 3 inches
The background circles are cut on gold cardstock from Creative Memories.
I painted the canvas with a purple metallic acryllic paint. I used a stapled gun to attach the white and gold braiding which was just something I had in my stash.

Would You Guess Wednesday- Birthday Card

It is Would You Guess Wednesday again over at My Cricut Craft Room. I think this day is fun. Last week Erica was talking about the Hannah Montana cartridge and the unseen possiblities of it. My girls were into Hannah Montana for a little while which is what prompted me to look into this cartridge online. It was the extras that have nothing to do with Hannah Montana that made me buy it. This is really a font cartridge and I use the letters alot. I love the music note letters. The butterflies, hearts, and birds at the end are beautiful. Last year my daughter's class was called SuperStars. This cartridge was perfect for making things with a super star theme. I use it quite frequently. In light of that I decided to use it again today. Today I am sharing a card I made for my husband grandmother. I hope she likes it. This card was very simple and easy to make.

I used two cartridges to make this card; Hannah Montana and Create A Critter

This is the last page (button) on this cartridge. I used the Daddy's Girl Feature. The dark pink was cut on shift.

Happy Birthday cut from Create A Critter at 2 1/2 inches. This is found on the page with the bear use the phrase feature.

This card is a 4 1/2 x 6 1/2inch card.

Festive Fridays - Elf Sign

Today over at My Cricut Craft Room it is time for Festive Friday again. This may be my favorite of her days. You know I love Christmas and all things Christmas. When December 1 rolls around at our house, special little visitors usually arrive. We have elves that come and spend the month of December with us and then travel home with Santa after he delivers our presents on Christmas eve. While they are here they get into all kinds of mischief and fun. They also take part in all of our fun Christmas activities. I decided to make a sign the elves could leave on doorknobs or dresser drawer knobs and things of that sort to show places around the place they hang out. I am thinking like on the playroom door to help explain the mess they made while the girls were at school. I wanted to share my sign with you today.

I used 3 cartridges to make this: Paper Doll Dress Up, George Basic Shapes, and Old West.

3 stars cut at 5 1/2 inches

In the picture above it kind of looks like three different size stars but I think that must have been the angle I took the picture. They were all cut at 5 1/2.

A few other things: I just punched hole with a regular hole punch and used ribbon to connect the stars. I heat sealed all ends of the ribbon. I used a small star confetti piece for the dot on the i in Jingle. My favorite touch is the googly eyes on the elf. They really added alot. Hope you enjoyed my touch of Christmas.

Card Creating Tuesday - My First Tri Shutter Card

Today is Card Creating Tuesday over at My Cricut Craft Room. I just made my first tri shutter card and wanted to share it with you. I have seen these amazing cards floating all over the internet and just had to give it a try. I hope you like my first attempt.

I made this card for my grandmother, Nonnie, who will be celebrating her birthday next week.

Butterfly page 75 Use Pop Princess feature Cut at 3 inches
cut green polka dots then cut using shift out of pink

Happy Birthday page 27 use Phrase feature cut at 1 1/2 inches
Butterfly page 65 shift cut out pink use layer 1 for green cut at 1 1/4 inches
Hearts Page use phrase feature cut at 1 inch

I added The Paper Studio gemstones - pearls to butterfly antennae and two pink hearts on front.
For my first attempt I am pretty pleased. I am looking forward to making this style of card again and seeing what I can come up with.

Card Creating Sunday - 5th Birthday Card

Today over at My Cricut Craft Room it is Card Creating Sunday. I decided to share with you today a birthday card I made for my niece who is turning 5. She is celebrating her birthday with a party today but unfortunately we live too far away to make it. I guess she will just have to settle for this card and a few little treats in the mail.

I made this card using Hannah Montana and Create A Critter cartridges.
From Create A Critter:
I cut the cupcakes at 1 inch ( page 36 using shift)
I cut the base in black, Then used feature 1 & 2 in orange and yellow
From Hannah Montana:
I cut the 5 out of confetti paper @ 3 inches then cut the black using the shadow feature.

Festive Friday

Hooray! It's Festive Friday! You know I love Christmas. Today I have made a Christmas card to share with you.

I made this card using the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I cut everything at 3 1/2. This is cut from the features on the nativity page. I cut the manger out twice once in brown and once in yellow then just cut the yellow hay apart to lay on top of the brown. Super simple. I did the same with Baby Jesus. I cut one out in beige and one in white. I then cut the head off the white and attached it on top of the whole beige. The verse was a stamp I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby.

August 100 Cartridge Blog Hop

Today I have made projects for you with three cartrtidges: Hello Kitty Greetings, Create A Critter, and Hannah Montana.

I made this card with Hello Kitty Greetings ( the Happy Birthday card part) and Create a Critter ( the horse). All papers used were solid colors from Hobby Lobby. I used a pink glitter glue pen on the letters and the bandana on the horse.

Hello Kitty Greetings:
White - use card feature Happy Birthday page 38 cut at 2inches
PInk - Happy Birthday Day page 38 cut at 2 inches
Light pink - Happy Birthday Letters use clothes/ shift feature page 38 cut at 2inches
Create a critter:
Horse on page 59 all pieces cut at 2 1/2 inches
Black - base item
Brown -Layer 1
Beige - Layer 2
Pink - Layer 3
I opened the card and added glue to the horses legs then glued him to the inside of the front of the card.

These shirts were for my girls to wear on my husband's birthday, yesterday.

To cut this item use the Daddy Girl feature of phrase 1 on page

Hannah Montana Cartridge cut out of freezer paper to make stencil then painted with fabric paint.

Shirts sizes 6 & 10 both cut at 3inches

Baby shirt ( 6-9 months) cut at two inches

Reduce speed and pressure to cut freezer paper. I think I had both set at 2. You are ironing the shiny side down to make your stencil. Make sure all parts of freezer paper are iron down good to make a tight seal.

Theme Day Sunday - Birthday

Today over at My Cricut Craft Room it is Theme Day Sunday and the theme for today is birthdays. I instantly thought about my husband. My sweet husband will be celebrating his birthday this coming Friday. The project I am sharing with you today is the birthday card I made from him from our three daughters.

This card was made using Create a Critter cartridge. The green card is an A6 size card I got at Target. All papers were out of my scrap bucket but my guess is they came from Hobby Lobby or Joanns.

I love Christmas and everything about it. It is my favorite time of year. As I began to work on this project I was trying to think of how I could incorporate the Christmas scriptures this year. Last year I made the girls Bible Study notebooks to work on each afternoon. This year I wanted us to be able to read the scriptures together. This project is what I came up with. This will be the centerpiece on our kitchen table and I am going to write scripture references on the white part of the cupcakes. During family time we will pull out a cupcake and read the scripture together. Thanks for looking. I hope you enjoy my project.

How I made it:
Materials: Plastic Popcorn bucket(from Dollar tree), acrylic paint, cardstock (I used papers from Hobby Lobby) gold cardstock (from Creative Memories), adhesive (I used my small X sticker maker by xryon and a zig pen), cotton filler, bamboo skewers

I started by painted a plastic popcorn bucket green. I attached the cupcakes to skewers and used cotton filler to look like snow inside the bucket and make the skewers stand up.

Would You Guess Wednesdays - Luggage Tag

I am so excited to be a part of Erica's Design team over at My Cricut Craft Room. Today she is sharing Would you Guess Wednesdays. This is the day that we use the features buttons or cricut cake cartridges to design our projects. Looking at the back of a Cricut cartridge box and dreaming the things you can make is so much fun. Opening up that package and discovering all the features and little extras not shown on that box is like Christmas. That is what Would you Guess Wednesday is all about. Opening up the possiblities of a cartridge.

Today I decided to share with you a luggage tag I made for my daughter to take to camp. The theme for her camp this year is Shipwreck Island so I decided to give her tag a tropical look.

For this project I used the Dreams Come True Cartridge. I found my features on the Jasmine and Ariel pages. All of my papers are solid colored cardstock from a value pack picked up at Hobby Lobby. The badge holder was from a package bought in the office supply section at Walmart.

Surprise 100 Cartridge Blog hop

Don't you just love surprises. Tie that surprise with a little romance and love and what could be better. I am so excited to be a part Erica's Design team and also to help celebrate her special day of surprise with this blog hop. These past few weeks have been crazy so I am afraid I don't have anything cricut to share with you. I have several projects I am hoping to get done and share with you soon. I do have a few pictures to share with you the loves of my life.

Sorry this picture is not great. I just do not have any of these pictures on the computer and today is too crazy so I just took a picture of a picture. This is me and my sweet husband 12 and half years ago. We were married on December 12 and had a green and gold Christmas wedding. I love Christmas and this was just perfect. ( 5 years ago my sister got married on December 31 and she had a beautiful blue snowflake wedding. It was gorgeous.) Did I mention that I am standing on the altar and he is on the floor beside me as he is a foot and half taller than me at 6'8". I could not ask for a better husband or father for my kids. He is all I could want and more. My wish is that every woman on earth could have a husband that treats her as well as my husband treats me. Now if I could just get back into the size I wore at my wedding that would be the icing on the cake.

This is a picture of my sweetie and me at a Tennessee football game a couple of years ago. GO Vols!!! We bleed orange in our house.

These are the other loves of my life. My three sweet girls. I affectionately refer to them (from oldest to youngest), as Sweetums, Sweetstuff, and Sweetpea. My younger two got their sweet names when I was pregnant by their older sister who also happened to name me honeypot when she was about 2. They fill my days. They are alot of fun and some of the greatest blessing God has ever given me.

I chose to use three of my absolute favorite cartridges this month. They are Paper Doll Dress Up, Everyday Paper Doll, and Hannah Montana.

The top picture is a Diaper wreath I made for my daughter's teacher. I used extra diapers from making a diaper cake and attached them to a styrofoam wreath. I decorated with the Everyday Paper Doll cartridge and the Hannah Montana cartridge.

Crafting Lately

I just wanted to share a few pictures of some things I have made lately.

These are gifts I made for my 5year old Wee School Teacher gifts.

This is a diaper cake I made that my daughter's 3rd grade class surprised their teacher with. She just found out she is pregnant and the class was so excited to plan this surprise. I am just amazed we were able to surprise her as they were bursting at the seems with excitement every time I walked through the door during our two weeks of planning.

Book Review - The Whole Bible Story

The Whole Bible Story, Everything that Happens in the Bible in Plain English by Dr. William H. Marty is not a Bible but a narrative taken straight from the Bible. Dr. Marty has taken the Bible and left out the laws, genealogies, prophecies, poetry, and instructions and given us it's story. The story from creation from salvation comes alive in this easy to read book. This book is all of the Bible stories we learned as children and maybe some we missed.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a very easy read and just got me back to basics of the story of God and his amazing works. I thought the Bible stories came alive and kept me engaged. It was fun to revisist some Bible stories I have not read in a long time. I would encourage anyone looking for something to read or someone new to the Bible and the Christian faith to read this book.

Wedding Card

I just wanted to share a card I made for a cousin's wedding shower.

This was cut with the Paper Doll Cricut Cartridge. I will be honest I was trying to get this done and in the mail and I do not remember the sizes I cut. Everything came from the front of the book the bride and groom characters and was cut from a variety pack of cardstock from Joann's. The names were cut from the Hannah Montana cartridge on the Daddy's Girl font. I hope my cousin liked it. I couldn't go to the shower but my mom delivered it for me and said she really like it.

By the way freezer paper is found in the aisle with the ziplock bags. It is used to wrap meat and other items you are going to freeze. It has a dull side and a shiny side. You iron the shiny side down on your fabric and then when dry you just rip off.

Lucinda - Paper Doll Dress Up

Things have been very rough here in my state this week. I live in Northern Alabama and it we were very blessed Wednesday to be spared the brunt of the storms. The rest of the northern part of our state was pretty much pounded and I am not sure if that is even the appropiate word. Who couldn't use a little sunshine. I think a bloghop will have to surfice. This is the first hop I have ever been a part of and hope you enjoy.

Our mission was to make something with our favorite cartridge(s). I am currently having a blast with the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. There are so many things you can make with this cartridge. Today I want to share with you two projects: first my mom's Mother's Day present, a painted tote bag. I used my cricut and freezer paper to make stencils.

My cricut and the Zoo

Last week we were on Spring Break. We had a great time visiting the family and ending the week with a short camping trip in our new camper. We started out the week at my sister's house and a girl's trip to the Zoo. The whole idea of going to the zoo for spring break and not in the summer was so maybe it would be a little cooler. Unfortunately we decided to go on the day it turned out to be 97 degrees. Not only was it hot but this mommy thought they said 70 and wet so we were all in pants. Fun was had anyways and I am sure we sweated away some unwanted pounds. For this trip I decided to put my cricut to good use make the my girls and my niece some special shirts to wear to the zoo.

My oldest is a hippo lover so of course she had to have a hippo shirt. My middle daughter loves horses but since those are not zoo animals she has decided giraffes are her next favorite animals and hence the giraffe shirt. For my youngest and my niece we decided monkeys would be cute and I must say I think they were my favorites.

We had a great time and my middle daughter was so excited to see the giraffes. The other favorites of the day were the flamingos and the meerkats.

If you get a chance to visit the Nashville Zoo I think you will enjoy it. They even have a great playground for the kids to play on.

The Revolutionary Paul Revere by Joel J. Miller

"The Brittish Are Coming!" These words are synomous with the name Paul Revere. Yet Paul Revere was so much more than just a rider with a message. The Revolutionary Paul Revere by Joel J. Miller looks at the life of Paul Revere. Revere was a great man living in an historic time and place. Miller begins at the beginning with Revere's father's journey to America. This book not only traces the happenings in the life of Paul Revere but also the world around him, manily Boston leading up to the American Revolution and thereafter.

If you are a lover of Revolutionary War history this book is sure to appeal to you. Being a history lover myself I enjoyed seeing the parts Paul Revere played in our nation's history besides his infamous ride. I learned many facts about Revere's life of which I had no clue. The book was not a quick read and took longer to read than my usual books. The depth of knowledge is great. I really enjoyed how the author included events that shaped what was happening yet we know that they would have had an effect on Revere but we have no written proof of what the effect was. Do you love the Revolutionary time period then read this book. Want to know more about the years leading up to events such as the Boston Tea Party read this book. Like to know more about the man Paul Revere then I would say read this book. I give this book 4 stars.

Review: The Doppleganger Chronicles, The First Escape

In The First Escape twin orphans Saskia and Sadie are separated when one is adopted and the other left behind. Left behind Sadie pairs up with former their, Erik and they set out to go find Saskia. What follows is a series of life threatening adventures. Meanwhile Saskia is having quite the adventure herself.

Upon first looking at this book I wasn't too sure how I would enjoy the book. Once I began reading, I found the book to be an easy read. This book is a mix of novel and comic strips. The illustrations are little different than anything that normally catches my eye. To be perfectly honest if I saw this book in a bookstore I probably would not purchase on visual appeal alone. Yet the book turned out to be quite interesting and I found myself wondering what was going to happen next. How were the characters going to get out of this predicament. I also asked my 9 year old daughter to read the book. She is an avid reader and we discovered that this book is an accelerated reader book so she agreed. Her first response was I am not sure I want to read this. That only lasted until she began reading. She even insisted we take the book along on Spring Break so she could finish it. She was a little intimitaded by the number of pages until she discovered what an easy read it is. I also can see ways that reading this along side your tween can open to doors to communication on spiritual matters. Overall I think this is a good book and we would probably enjoy reading the next book in the series.

9 Year old Luau Slumber Party

As we wrap up this fun week of partying with the Ultimate Blog Party at 5 minutes for mom, I thought I would share with you a fun party we had a few weeks ago. My oldest daughter just turned 9 and for her birhtday she wanted a Luau slumber party. Alot of fun was had but very little slumbering was done.

This was the gift table in front of our mantle.

Birthday parties- Oh me Oh my

This past Saturday both of my older daughters had birthday parties to attend. Of course in my true procrastinator fashion I knew what I wanted to make as present but did not have them done when we woke up Saturday morning. So I spent the morning and got things ready. Here is what I made:

This was for my 5 year old daughter to take to one of her best friends at church. She had a pinkalicious party and it was precious. Her mom made some of the best strawberry cupcakes I had had in a long time and they all got to bring home pink cotton candy and a star cookie wand. Lots of fun. I made the card with my paper doll dress up cricut cartridge and I used the create a critter cartridge to paint the kitty on the purse.

This is what my 9 year old daughter took to the party of a friend from her calass at school. This is a little girl I do not know very well so I hope she liked her present. We did find out that her favorite color was red and that she is an Alabama fan. Against every drop of Orange volunteer blood in me I made a Roll Tide bracelet and it was a big hit. I used the create a critter cartridge to make the shirt and card. This party was a kite flying picnic. My husband had to do the driving for this party so I didn't see it first hand but heard it was a lot of fun.

Book Review: Here Burns My Candle

I have just received my first book for review: Here Burns My Candle by Liz Curtis Higgs. I must admit although I have heard of Ms. Higgs I have never read any of her work and did not realize she wrote historical fiction. I did not know what I was missing. Here Burns My Candle is set in Scotland during the 18th century. It follows the lives of a mother and daughter-in-law and their family much like the first part of the book of Ruth in the Bible.
I have never read a historical book set in Scotland, but I must say that Ms. Higgs had me transported across the years and the sea as I got lost in the pages of the book. I was tickled to find a glossary of scottish words used in the book in the back. Although context made the glossary rarely necessary it was nice to double check occasionally that I was understanding correctly.

I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down to go to sleep or get up and get busy. I even fell asleep and dropped the book a couple of nights reading. I believe I have found a new author to add to my list. I cannot wait to read the sequel and discover what is to come for the characters to which I have become so drawn.

The Best Daily Deal

I love a great deal. Who doesn't. We do not live in a major city but we are only about an hour to an hour and a half to Huntsville. I have recently come across a great site called living social. A couple of weeks ago we were able to purchase two movie tickets for $9. We were even able to use the tickets right here in our town with fandango. My husband took the girls to see Gnomeo and Juliet which happened to be a 3D movie so he and one daughter got in for less than the price of his ticket and we just had to buy one more child's ticket. LOVE IT!!

Today's deal is for the US Space and Rocket Center-- HALF Price! My oldest has really been wanting to go there. Tonight at her birthday party she will be getting a certificate for a family trip. Loving My Cricut

I got a new cricut for Christmas. I bought one last year after Christmas that had been returned to Big Lots and was sold for $15 as is. It worked really good then quit but being I bought it as is couldn't do much about it. My sweet husband collaborated with my momma to find a good deal and got me a new one for Christmas. I am loving it so much. Someday I am going to have the big one like my momma. I have recently gotten some new cartridges that I am in love with. I found the Hello Kitty Greaetings cartridge on clearance at HObby Lobby. My favorite feature is that you can turn every picture into a shaped card. It was the perfect fit for Valentine's Day:

I also found Hannah Montana cartridge on sale which I bought for the music note feature and the Daddy's Girl cut. I ordered Paper Doll Dress up and Create A Critter which I am using this week to get ready for my daughter's Luau slumber party Friday night. I will post more later and let you see what I made.

Momma of a Tween

It's official I am now the mother of a Tween. I know you are thinking impossible right but no it is here. Yesterday, my oldest daughter, A, turned 8 years old. It is hard for me to believe. We celebrated a week and a half ago with a slumber party. Our first slumber party which turned out to be a huge success.

It is hard for me to believe we have reached this stage in life it just seems to have gone so extremely fast. Now when I was eight we really didn't have the word tween but our culture has changed much in the past 24 years and seems to be changing more and more. I was at the pharmacy waiting on a prescription yesterday and I picked up a magazine sitting beside me upside down. This particular magazine is one I have never read because it has long been on the opposite point of view on how I view life but this issue was just pure sex. Every headline was about sex or how to look sexy. One headline could not even be printed on the cover. Out of curiousity I flipped to the table of contents EVERY article was about sex or making yourself "sexy." The few ads I saw made my skin crawl.

This is the world I am raising my daughters in and it makes me sad. We recently finished teaching every Young Woman's Battle ( and Every Young Man's Battle) to the youth at our church. Our media and technology saturated culture has given our youth a skewed view of reality on who they are and how sex fits into their success as a person and their happiness. I want better for my girls. I am hoping to begin by combatting this early. We already talk about decency and modesty. For her birthday yesterday I gave her "Secret Keeper Girls, 8 Great Dates with Your Daughter." We are so excited about spending this time together and equally excited about our plans to attend a Secret Keeper Girls event in May. ( You can learn more about Secret Keeper's Girl here.)

I am now a mother of tween and I am fighting to provide her a strong foundation to face the coming years as a daughter of the king. Last year she gave me the best present when she accepted Jesus as her savior and then was baptized on my birthday. She loves Jesus and I want to show her how he can be her guide and best friend in the years to come. I am facing the coming years with nervous excitement. My prayer is that I will help face the tween and teen years as someone who can be in the world but not of it.

Muffin Tin Monday

I did it! I finally decided to jump on board and try out Muffin Tin Monday hosted by Muffin Tin Mom. So much fun. There was no theme for today so we just had what I thought we would eat. I keep a little girl a couple of days a week and she happened to be here today. Her favorite is macaroni and cheese so that is what we had along with apple, banana, and sour gummy worms. A fun lunch for a couple of fun girls.

Great Book

I just finished reading my Christmas present. No it's not that long of a book. I accidentally left the book at my parents house at Christmas time. I had read the first chapter and was so excited and then got home without it and had to wait three months for them to bring it to me. The book is called The Centurion's Wife by T. Davis Bunn and Janette Oke. Janette Oke has been one of my favorite authors since I was a young teenager when I started reading her "Love" Series. I first heard of Davis Bunn when he and Oke wrote an Acadia series together. ( Great series by the way I just finished rereading them). Anyways back to the book I just finished. This book is set in Biblical times and opens right at the end of the crucifixion of Jesus. The story takes place in Pilate's household. I loved the book and wanted to continue on in the journey of these people's lives at the end of book. I would say amazing and would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read.

A Very Busy Fun Weekend

Yesterday I turned 31 years old. This was not the highlight of my weekend though. We had a very busy weekend. Friday night my parents arrived to kick off my mom's spring break. Of course Mrs. Procrastination and terrrible housekeeper that I am was no where near ready for them and unfornutately my mom started her spring break helping me clean house. We cleaned and made tutus and pink flower cupcakes. Not for my birthday of course but for my daughter's seventh birthday party on Saturday afternoon. At one oclock on Saturday afternoon the door bell rang and nine little girls descended on our house for a bring your favorite baby doll, Fancy Nancy, fun filled soiree.
They were excited, they were giggly, they were loud and they had a lot of fun. We decorated with pink and purple. Lots of hearts, stars, and butterflies.
I made tutus to wear and we got bracelets, rings, necklaces, sunglasses, and dressed up and had the most fun. Of course everyone brought their favorite doll who posed for pictures with us and sat at their own table and feasted on doughnut.
They had a blast and the birthday girl was thouroughly spoiled and loved every minute of it. But this was not the highlight of the weekend. On Saturday night extremely tired from all the party fun and preparations my family took me out to Texas Roadhouse to celebrate my birthday. After a really long wait we got a table and had a delicious meal. My sister gave me some pretty jewelry and a spa kit (can't wait to try that out), my parents gave me some money and my husband and girls gave me a really nice MP3 player, just what I asked for. When I asked for one I really just meant a cheap basic player like my daughter got for Christmas but he got me one with a radio and a a place to put photos. I have had so much fun playing with it.
But alas this was still not the highlight of my weekend. The main attraction of this weekend was watching my oldest daughter get baptized on my birthday. I stood up beside the baptistry taking pictures and sobbing and praising God for saving my young daughter. She is a precious gift to my husband and I and now she has accepted the most precious gift that is out there, the Salvation of Jesus Christ. What a wonderful weekend and the most marvelous birthday blessing a momma could ever ask for.

Starting Over

Well I started this blog 6 months ago. I posted a few times and then I let it slip by the wayside. I am hoping to get back in the swing of things. We had a wonderful week and a half with my parents to celebrate Christmas but now we are home and facing a new year. There are alot of things I hope to accomplish in this new year. I have decided to join a 101 things in 1001 days challenge. I have made my list of 101 things to do and I am hoping to begin seeing things completed. You can see my list and follow along with my progress at my new blog here. I am also really focused on my need to lose weight and get in better shape. I have signed up for a website called Spark People and am hoping it will help me to accomplish my goals in the physical area. I hope all of you out there have had a Very Merry Christmas and I pray that 2009 will treat you just fine.

Long Time No Post

Well I set up my blog and then I didn't post. Life has been crazy with the end of school and a very busy June. I am going to try to do better. I spent one week as a chaperone for a youth camp with our youth from the chruch we moved from in Georgia. We had a great week and I was glad to be back with my girls. I even went over a 15 foot wall. Our theme was Mt. Kilimanjaro. This wall was one of my personal Mt. Kilimanjaros.

They are finally going away almost three weeks later. But I have to say they were worth just to make it over. It was a great week. Last week was VBS. We had a blast. My neice and nephew spent the week with and we were all happily spent by the end of the week. I will post more later.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is just about a week away. How did it sneak up on me. I have no idea but it did. I went to town today and picked up my mom's present. It was something she mentioned right after Christmas. Yay Me!! I remembered and I found it on sale. We are still trying to decide on my dmil. I picked up the craft stuff for the great grandmoms and hoping to let girls make something at least cards this weekend. I will post pictures when I am done crafting. Let's hope I can get it all done.
